Sanjiv Solankl
CINEMATOGRAPHER
Sanjiv Solanki was born in Oklahoma City, and he moved to Texas at the age of 11. In 2004, he graduated from Southern Methodist University with a BA in Journalism. He has wanted to be a filmmaker ever since seeing Pulp Fiction on January 22, 1995, and is now pursuing an MFA in Cinema Production at the University of Southern California.
In his time at USC, Sanjiv has studied almost every facet of film-making in an effort to more clearly express himself and his ideas when working with others. He’s won an award for sound design on a short film, shot a USC short, and he has directed his own USC thesis project. The Garden is his debut as Cinematographer for a thesis film.
He is most interested in exploring darker concepts and themes, especially in using different film-making styles and techniques to create specific tones and atmospheres in his work.
