Writing was the first craft Michael learned, and continues to be one of his favorite activities. For him, a script is the only place where the imagination is free to roam as it pleases, which makes it perhaps the purest of the creative functions of which he’s involved.
He received his B.A. in English with an emphasis in creative writing, and has been writing screenplays since high school.
Other than writing The Garden, he has written every film under the “Director” section of this site, as well as numerous pieces of short fiction. From 2002-4, Michael worked for the University of Nebraska’s Daily Nebraskan newspaper first as a reporter and then as a columnist.
The Garden is his trophy screenplay, but he’d like to give you a glimpse of some of the other projects and concepts he’s been involved with over the years that have unfortunately never found their way into production. Perhaps one day the above projects will be revived and manifested into their full potential!
